Paul Spicer: ‘Two Pieces for James’ — for solo piano

£7.50

‘James’s Jaunt’ and ‘Potts’s Pavane’, for solo piano, were commissioned in 2010 as a birthday gift to the Rev. James Potts.  They take their inspiration from the Elizabethan virginal books and from Herbert Howells’s clavicord books, but always in Spicer’s own, distinctive musical voice.

‘James’s Jaunt’ is joyous, vibrant and celebratory, while ‘Potts’s Pavane’ is a moving and heartfelt tribute to a much loved man.

Duration:
‘James’s Jaunt’, 2’40
‘Potts’s Pavane’, 2’00.

Score. 12pp. ISMN 979-0-7080-7317-8 (7 June 2021)
